August 30, 2019: Shots Fired East of Campus

The St. Joseph County Police Department has alerted the Notre Dame Police Department of an incident that involved gun shots being fired in the area of Burdette, Bailey and Eugene Streets east of campus. Several shots were fired from a moving vehicle at another moving vehicle. The incident occurred around 10:00 PM on August 29, 2019. The occupants of the vehicles had some contact with each other at another location earlier in the evening.

The Notre Dame Police Department has been in contact with our partners in St. Joseph County about this incident, and we will continue to work together for the safety of our communities.

If you have any information regarding this assault, please contact the St. Joseph County Police Department, and if you are a victim of a crime please report it to local authorities.

If you become aware of a disturbance or fight, leave the area as quickly as possible and seek protection. Once you have reached a place of safety, call 911. If this is not possible, hide and seek shelter in a place where you will be safe until the danger has passed.
