Need information on ND Alerts?
Crime Alerts (as known as Timely Warnings) inform the campus community about specific crimes that may represent an ongoing risk or pattern of activity. By contrast, ND Alerts are emergency notifications triggered only during urgent, imminent threats requiring immediate protective action (such as severe weather or an active hazard). To learn more about emergency safety protocols and text alerts, visit the ND Alert Page.

We are writing with additional information on the Crime Alert that was issued on Tuesday, October 13, 2026.
After the Crime Alert was issued, an additional person came forward with information about a similar interaction on the same night. The investigation has led NDPD to believe that the suspect in all three of the incidents is the same person. We are grateful to all three of these students for reporting what they experienced.
As a result, the Notre Dame Police Department has identified a person of interest in this case who is not a member of the Notre Dame community and has issued a no trespass order for the property of the University of Notre Dame.
Anyone with additional information is asked to contact NDPD. The investigation remains ongoing.
As a reminder, exercise personal safety, traveling in a group whenever possible and remaining aware of your surroundings. Utilize NDPD’s SafeBouND service for late-night safety escorts on campus, as well as the other features within NDPD’s ND Safe app.
To report a crime in progress, suspicious activity (crime may be occurring), fire or medical emergency, dial 9-1-1 from any campus phone or dial 574-631-5555 from your cellular telephone.
