What should I do?

Cyber criminals attempt to exploit, gain access to, and steal sensitive and confidential information in various way, including phishing, spoofing, pharming, and malware, most commonly via email. If you receive a phishing email to your Notre Dame email address, click "Report spam".

More recently, cyber criminals begun exploiting people via text message, stating for instance that their package cannot be delivered due to an incomplete address. If you receive a phishing text message, forward the message to SPAM (7726) to report it to your wireless provider.

Further, Artificial Intelligence (AI) is a rapidly developing technology with significant benefits, but also great risk. Any information entered into or generated by AI techology becomes public. Never enter sensitive or private information in AI software.

Remember, never offer sensitive information such as social security numbers, credit card or banking information, or usernames or passwords to unverified sources. Consider using a password manager such as 1Password. It is everyone's rsponsibility to recognize potential scams and protect your information.
